Countries where Peruvians do not need a visa
Being Peruvian today opens so many doors (more than 70 destinations!), and the best part is that many of these places have simplified their processes so all we have to worry about is packing our bags. Here's a super comprehensive, cheerful, and positive guide to help you choose your next passport stamp.
The World at Your Feet! Visa-Free Destinations for Peruvians in 2026
Traveling without a visa doesn't mean traveling without rules, but it does mean saying goodbye to stressful consulate interviews. Here's a roadmap to your newfound freedom:
1. South America: Our Neighbors and Brothers!
In our own region, integration is complete. Thanks to the agreements of the Andean Community (CAN) and Mercosur , it is absolutely easy.
Countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Paraguay, Uruguay, Suriname and Guyana.
The Procedure: You don't even need a passport! You can travel with just your valid ID .
Useful Information: If you're traveling to Bolivia, Colombia, or Ecuador, you'll receive the Andean Migration Card (TAM) , which is now mostly digital. Keep it safe in your email!
2. Central America and the Caribbean: Sun, Beach and Relaxation
If you're looking for palm trees and crystal-clear waters, the Caribbean welcomes you with open arms.
Countries: Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Panama, Dominican Republic, Trinidad and Tobago, and the Netherlands Antilles (Aruba, Curacao, Bonaire).
The Procedure: * Panama/Dominican Republic: You only need your biometric passport.
Mexico: Currently, Mexico requires a visa for Peruvians (a temporary procedure that we hope will change soon), but if you have a US, Canadian or Schengen visa, you can enter for free!
El Salvador: You must pay a "Tourist Card" upon arrival (approx. $12 USD).
3. Europe: The Old Continent Goes Digital
Good news! We remain exempt from the Schengen Visa for tourism, but 2026 brings a small technological innovation to make everything safer and faster.
Countries: Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Greece, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and almost the entire European Union (30 countries in total).
The Procedure (The ETIAS New Feature):
From the end of 2026, we will need the ETIAS permit .
How does it work? It's 100% online. You fill out a form with your information, pay a small fee (approx. €7), and it's electronically linked to your passport for 3 years. No embassy visit required!
United Kingdom: We still don't require a visa! You only need to apply for an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) before flying. It's quick and can be done through an app.
4. Asia and the Middle East: Exoticism and Modernity
Countries: Japan, China, United Arab Emirates (Dubai and Abu Dhabi), South Korea, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Israel, Malaysia, Mongolia, Qatar, Singapore, Thailand and Turkey.
The Procedure:
Japan: Great news! You no longer need a tourist visa for stays of up to 90 days. Simply apply for J-ESTA (Expedited Electronic Travel Authorization) before your flight. It's a 100% digital process linked to your electronic passport.
China: Thanks to agreements in place until the end of 2026, Peruvians can enter without a visa for tourism or business for periods of up to 30 days. You only need your valid passport and travel reservations. (Ideal for those with family ties to China or who want to practice the language).
South Korea: Like Japan, it requires the K-ETA online before traveling. It's very simple and is usually approved within hours.
Singapore : No visa required, but you must complete the SG Arrival Card (a health and arrival record) virtually 3 days before landing.
Thailand / Indonesia: Minimal formalities. In Indonesia, you pay a "Visa on Arrival" upon landing, while in Thailand, you can enter freely for tourism.
5. Africa: Safari and Culture
Countries: Morocco, South Africa (recent waiver agreement) and Botswana.
The Procedure: For Morocco, you only need your passport. For other African countries, although they don't require a visa, always check if they require the Yellow Fever .
6. Northern Europe: Northern Lights and Nordic Design
Countries: Denmark, Iceland and Norway.
The Procedure (ETIAS 2026):
As with the rest of the Schengen area, from the last quarter of 2026, you will need to apply for the ETIAS permit online.
Cost: Approximately €7 (free for those under 18 and over 70 years old).
Validity: It is valid for multiple entries for 3 years (or until your passport expires).
Additional border requirements:
Electronic Passport: It is essential that it be biometric.
Travel Insurance: As these are countries with high costs of living, it is vital (and mandatory) to have medical insurance that covers at least €30,000 .
Financial Solvency: In these countries, they are a bit more meticulous. They may ask you to prove that you have enough money for your stay (approximately $70-$100 USD per day, depending on the country).
Golden Tips for a Successful Trip
Passport validity: Make sure your passport has at least 6 months of validity remaining before it expires. It's the international golden rule!
Travel insurance: Especially for Europe, it's mandatory to have insurance with a minimum coverage of €30,000. Plus, you'll travel with much greater peace of mind!
Return ticket: Always have your return ticket and hotel reservation handy. Immigration officers love to see that you have plans to return (or continue your trip).
Financial solvency: Sometimes you will be asked to prove that you have funds (credit cards or cash) for your vacation.
